Mr. Jones, my high school Economics teacher, gave us a lecture on the last day of class. He said it was about life. He said he was going to tell us how to be happy in life. If we take anything from this class, he wanted us to get this one lesson. He said these three things are the keys to happiness in life.

And so he wrote it on the board:

"something to do
something to hope for
someone to love"

Something to do. A job. A hobby. A service. Something that will allow you to keep busy when you're old and grey.

Something to hope for. A dream. A goal. Something to shoot for. It's our hopes and dreams that motivates us to wake up in the morning. It gives us purpose.

Someone to love. A lot of people make the mistake of looking for someone to be loved by. You should instead find that someone to love. Love is an act of giving. Love should be something that can be shared.

(Mr. Jones also added that this certain someone should make you feel three things:
They should make you feel smart,
they should make you feel funny; that you have a sense of humor,
and they should make you feel sexy.

If they don't do these things for you then they're probably not the one.)

I found these words to be very profound and not a bad guide to living life.
Just something I wanted to share.
