Comment: The metal rod sticking out would cast a shadow that could be used for measurements by tracing its progress against the scratches in the rock. Very cool!
TowerWinds 001 * So for our last art and archaeology class we went to the Roman Agora. The only thing of real interest there (besides packs of stray dogs) is the 'Tower of the Winds'. This was built as an observatory and sun dial. On the top are personifications of the 8 Winds/compass directions. * 1600 x 1200 * (740KB)
