Welcome to the We Care About U - Schenectady Homepage. WCAU-S is a group of volunteers from Union College that is rebuilding Schenectady one house at a time. WCAU-S members donate their Saturday mornings and afternoons to a not-for-profit company, Better Neighborhoods Inc. By having the WCAU-S volunteers provide the labor for rebuilding the houses, BNI can resell the houses as low income residences.
Any member of the Union College community can become a member of WCAU-S. For more information, send mail to club president Seth Condell . No experience is necessary, we have members that have never seen a hammer before and those that have built their own houses; we have engineers amongst us and philosophy majors.
Typically, our jobs include demolition, framing up rooms, sheetrocking, shingling, and painting. Join us, Saturday mornings at 9:00 in the College Center circle. All you need to bring is yourself, an appatite (lunch is on us), work clothes, and a sense of adventure.
