MISSION STATEMENT

Union College Club Ice Hockey has been one of the fastest club sports to be positively recognized on the Union College Campus. The team started as a “beer” league team and has recently worked its way up to being one of the most recognized club teams in the Northeast Region. The team currently competes in the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC), which is a part of the Division III American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The club team is home to all Union College Hockey players, men and women that feel they need an outside alternative to playing for Union’s Division I NCAA hockey teams. The club team is made up of students who have mostly played hockey at the Midget Major to Junior hockey level.

The team practices two to three times a week from September to early March. The team plays about twenty season games that typically begin in the beginning of October and end anywhere from February to March depending upon playoffs. This past season the team came in third place in their division in the MCHC and finished seventh overall and 21st in the Northeast Region of the ACHA. The team finished when they were knocked out of the playoffs by they season against SUNY Farmingdale (1). Other teams in the MCHC are SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Albany, Fairfield University, Yale, Briarcliff College, Fordham University, County College of Morris, NJIT, St. Thomas Aquinas, Hofstra University, and SCSU. The Union College Club Team does not only stay inside the MCHC to play, in the past they have played Boston College, Stony Brook University, HVCC, Coast Guard Academy, C.W. Post, Colgate, and Skidmore.

If you are interested in playing Club Ice Hockey, please contact the President, Eric Silverstein, at silvere2@union.edu or Vice President Andrew Cody at codya@union.edu. Also look for signs at move in day for our first meeting.
