U Sustain is creating an inventory of lesson plans used in various disciplines that incorporate global warming or environmental initiatives. The environment is a topic that is important to all subject matter and incorporating it into class will help prepare Union graduates for the future.
Several students from Natural Disasters (GEO-109) researched the impacts of climate change on Indonesia (Barringer), the Middle East (Habayeb), the Netherlands (Wehrum), and Fiji (Maynard) as part of Jackie Cockburn's class on Natural Disasters. One other student also researched the History of Earth Day.
Humanities
Professor Batson and Miryam Moutillet co-taught a dance class on the environmental destruction due to war: In the context of our class's focus on the politically engaged experimental theater and dance of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, we used the 'Focus the Nation' day to examine artists' responses to the environmental destruction of war.
U Sustain seeks to promote sustainability initiatives and educate the campus community about ways to live, work, and enjoy Union in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways possible.
