U Sustain is a committee comprised of environmentally and socially concerned faculty, staff, and students at Union College. Our goal is to reduce the ecological footprint of Union College and make the institution more sustainable. As an institution of higher education, we believe this is our responsibility.

U Sustain understands that sustainability does not come easily and that it is a project that requires dialogue, support, and participation from the entire Union College Community, as well as dialogue with the greater Schenectady area. To equip the community, we strive to provide relevant information and resources about what the individual can do.

If you have ideas, resources, or information to share with the committee, U Sustain would love to hear from you. Participation can be as easy and mindless as shutting off lights, sending us an idea, or reading up on what U can do and what Union is doing to support sustainability. For others, participation may include joining the committee or a sub-committee or representing your department and relaying important information. Either way, everyone in the community needs to be involved in order to respond appropriately to sustainability concerns, our environmental imperative.

The resources provided on this site cover everything from the flow of resources at Union to getting around, energy issues, and ways students, faculty and staff can live and work in a society that requires environmental mindfulness.
