The photograph must have been taken by you. II. It must have been taken during the current academic year (includes summer). III. All entries must be single photographs (montages, sets, spreads, movies, or slideshows will not be accepted). IV. A short description must accompany all submissions. This description should explain the physics or astronomy behind the photograph. (Please note that the Physics & Astronomy Department faculty can only assist you in this explanation.) V. Physical submissions are to be placed in the SPS mailbox in the Physics & Astronomy Department office. VI. E-mail submissions, sent to surmanr@vu.union.edu, are allowed provided all fields are completed in the email of an attachment (text or MS Word formats). VII. All submissions are due by Friday of Week 4 of Spring Term. VIII. Submissions may be posted online, on campus, or published in a Union College publication. IX. All entries will be judged by a panel of Physics & Astronomy faculty and students. X. Multiple entries per person are allowed, but only one award may be received. Digital Photography: XI. Digital photography must be submitted at a size of no less than 1 megapixel. XII. Digital photographs must be submitted in one of the following formats: a. Bitmap (.bmp, .dib) b. JPEG (.jpeg, .jpe, .jpg, .jfif) c. GIF (.gif) d. TIFF (.tif, .tiff) e. PNG (.png) Film Photography: XIII. Film must be submitted unedited and developed, negatives will not be accepted.
