STUDENT SELECTION

There are two positions for Students within the Student Investment Fund (SIF). The Investment Committee and the Portfolio Managers. The first level of participation with the SIF is the Investment Committee.

INVESTMENT COMMITTEE REQUIREMENTS

    1. Fill out an application
    2. Write an essay
    3. Attend meetings and fulfill research responsibilities assigned by Portfolio Managers

PORTFOLIO MANAGERS REQUIREMENTS

    1. At least one full year of good standing with the SIF
    2. Completion of ECO134 (Financial Analysis)
    3. Complete understanding of the decision making requirements of the SIF.

APPOINTMENT

A student may become part of the Investment Committee at any time during the Academic Session. Any full-time undergraduate student at Union College is eligible regardless of graduation year or Major. The previous Portfolio Managers and the Academic Advisor will choose the new Portfolio Managers in the beginning of the Spring Term.

DUTIES OF PORTFOLIO MANAGER

    1. Designate a time to meet with IC and Academic Advisor at least one time a week.
    2. Make final decisions on all proposals

DUTIES of the INVESTMENT COMMITTEE

    1. members of the IC will give detailed reports about the status of their designated holdings within the portfolio and the industry in which those instruments are located
    2. Present possible changes in a particular industry to the Portfolio Managers. These presentations must consist of 3 copies of research for managers to investigate and compare various options.
      1. A member of the IC can present an idea at any time as long as all 3 Portfolio Managers are present.

DECISIONS

    1. All final decisions will be made by a vote between the 3 portfolio managers.
    2. If Tow Managers decide to make a change to the Portfolio after evaluating research the n that particular change can be made.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Web Master - Responsible for updating and maintaining web page.
    2. Bridge Liaison - Responsible for answering question within the club about how to user Bridge Products.
