Laryngeal Webbing Prevention
Prevention:
While trauma to the throat may be unavoidable, infection of the larynx can be prevented by general vocal health:
~ Err on the side of caution! If you are unsure about the health of your voice, consult your physician!
~ Stay hydrated! Drying of the vocal cords can cause irritations that may result in laryngeal webbing.
~ Do not overuse your voice! Harming your voice in this way is also an irritation that can cause laryngeal webbing.
~ Refrain from overeating! Eating in large amounts can result in food being pushed against the esophageal sphincter which weakens the vocal mechanism. This can cause acid reflux which is, yet again, another vocal irritant.
