Podcast Subscriptions

As always, this page is best viewed on a widescreen monitor of at least 1280×800 pixels.

Below is an index of podcasts that I have subscribed to.  They are sorted into two basic categories: Groups and Individual.  The “Podcast Groups” category is for podcasting sites that offer individual feeds for a variety of materials.  The “Individual Podcasts” category is for podcasts that offer only one feed per site.  The “Individual Podcast” group is broken down into various subgroups which describe the content of the included podcasts.

I should note that for most of the podcasts I listen to, I keep up to date on new episodes, but these pages rarely reflect that.  Oddly, new subscriptions to established podcasts are far more likely to get up-to-date pages since I will binge on the content and make the page at the same time.  At the present time, I am more interested in podioplays and podiobook sequels than general prose podcasts.

With each podcast, I include (or attempt to) a few things:

  • First is album art.  These images are, of course, copyright to their respective copyright holders.  No infringement is intended.

  • Second is the title.  Both the title and album art are linked to the website for that podcast.

  • Third is usually a synopsis, which occasionally begins with personal notes regarding that subscription.  Though I try not to spoil too many things, there is always the risk that I will do so.

  • The second-to-last things I include are the “probable time involvement and minimum time involvement.  The former is my best guess at how long it would take someone to listen to the entire podcast by using as many hours as I think is possible to spend on it.  (In other words, how much time it took me to listen to it.)  The latter is the absolute minimum time you could invest in a given podcast if you completely binged on it.

  • Finally, I will add what genre I have the podcast listed under in my personal library.  These do not correspond to literary genres (e.g. Science Fiction, Comedy) but rather to production values, length, and in some cases, literary genre.  The listing of the genres that I use in my personal library (for the “Genre” metadata entry) can be found here.

I am woefully far behind in updating these pages and even in listening to the most recent podcasts.  I will attempt to update the pages in order, starting with Podiobooks.com.

Podcast Groups

Individual Podcasts

Podiobooks.com
A distribution site for hundreds of serialized audiobooks.

Escape Artists, Inc.
Parent company of Escape Pod, Pseudopod, and PodCastle, the world
s first Sci-Fi, Horror, and Fantasy podcast magazines, respectively.
I have not kept up with EAI podcasts since the Escape Pod hiatus.  At some point I may binge on the episodes (though I have been telling myself that for years with regards to Pseudopod).

Variant Frequencies
Starting as a way for Matt Wallace and Anne Stringer to get their works exposed to an audience, Variant Frequencies is probably best known for The Failed Cities Monologues.

Scott Sigler
Home site of your (and my) future Dark Overlord.  Oh, and his podcasted novels.

Planet Retcon Radio
Once home to
The Stargate Cafe” and now home to The Log of the Crimson Lien.”
This podcast is on the fringe of podfading, to be honest.

The New York Times

Darker Projects
A great audio theater site which seems to enjoy plots featuring plagues that create zombies, Doctor Who crossovers, and Star Trek.

BrokenSea Audio Productions
Another audio theater site known for its hooliganism and additional seasons of Mark Kalita
s rendition of the Doctor.

Prometheus Radio Theatre
A Maryland production company which is probably best known for The Arbiter Chronicles and the new series Superhuman Times.
Page to be created and linked, hopefully by the end of 2009.
