Escape Pod: Flashes are occasional extras in the Escape Pod feed and are around (or under) 10 minutes in length. There are no intros or outros in these releases, just the story. In 2007 a 300-word flash fiction contest was run in the Escape Artists, Inc. fora with the winners to be podcasted on Escape Pod. So far the only winners have appeared on PodCastle.
Escape Pod had its first hiatus that ran from late 2008 through early 2009, during which some of their backlog of flash episodes were podcasted by other Escape Artists, Inc. hosts. Since the end of the hiatus, Escape Pod: Flashes have been released more regularly.
