BrokenSea
seems to be a child of a few different Darker
Projects voice actors. I first discovered BrokenSea when Darker
Project’s “Doctor Who: Time Tales” moved at the end of its second
season. At first, I thought that BrokenSea was a Darker Projects
spin-off designed to host fan-fiction works. However, some evidence (see
the first posts on their “Star
Trek: Archimedes” page) suggests that some actors were not satisfied with
Darker Projects and thus started their own group. Based on what I have
heard, it seems as if the majority of actors appear on both sites, so
the only gripe I could see would be the frequency of releases. Alternatively, BrokenSea may be a
spin-off site for more light-hearted works, allowing Darker Projects to return
to its “Audio Theatre in a Darker Shade” roots.
Of the works they release, BrokenSea has what is hand-down the funniest
podcast I have ever heard: “Sounding Board.” As mentioned above, they also
release Doctor Who (with Mark Kalita), a new Star Trek series, and a few other
light-hearted (one presumes) works that in the queue.
Oh, unlike Darker Projects, BrokenSea has an ambitious schedule of new
releases every Thursday. As such, the more feeds you subscribe to, the
more likely you are to have a new chapter, installment, or episode to listen
to each week.
As with most podcasts I listen to, I keep up to date on new episodes, but these pages rarely reflect that. Oddly, new subscriptions to established podcasts are far more likely to get up-to-date pages since I will binge on the content and make the page at the same time.
