HST 197: Seminar in the History of the Americas: Native Americans and Europeans in the Settlement of America (Winter; Meade). Examines the indigenous societies of North and South America; analyzes the encounter, conflict, and interaction between European settlers and the native peoples of the Americas.

PS 59: Wealth and Power Among Nations (Winter; Nichols). An examination of the tensions between North and South in the global political economy. Topics include world trade patterns, international organizations military relationships, natural resources and environmental limits, and cross-cultural perceptions and identities. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or PS 11 and 12. One of the main topics in the course will be NAFTA and other aspects of North and South America political relations.
