Sports play an important role in the life of the Brothers of Alpha Pi. This year 10 brothers have competed or are competing on various Union varsity teams with great success. However sports is not only for the serious competitor as this year Chi Psi has perhaps had their best showing in intramural sports as well. With the year not over it looks like it will be another great year of sports in the lodge.
Being the only Division I sport at Union, hockey is the main sport of the school. This past year was one of the hockey team's most succesfull seasons as they were able to grab home ice advantage for the second time in school history and the second time in a row. Playing a major part in this years success was the play of junior Joel Beal. Beal who was named assitant captain at the start of the year played in 33 of the team's 35 games scoring 8 goals to go along with his team leading 19 assists.
Anchoring the defense this year was junior Matt Vagvolgyi who played in all 35 of the teams games and during those games was able to put the puck in the net 7 times this year and helped out on 12 others.
