Catalina Dreaming

Sailing is where I try to spend the most of my summer. With work it is a rarely achieved goal (if ever yet). But even when work keeps me too busy, it is always on my mind. We (the Beckerleg family and friends) sail out of Salem, MA., located about 25 miles north of Boston. Recently we purchased a new Catalina 400 (thanks Dad!) which will be launched for the first time in mid-May. (pictured above). She is 40 feet long with a rather generous beam, two cabins (one forward one aft) each with their own head/shower, full kitchen, good-sized saloon area, and lots of other cool toys. Below is an interior shot looking forward to the V-Berth stateroom from the stairs going up to the cockpit and a shot from the back showing the landing platform.

This is our former boat. She is a 34' 9" boat built in Cuxhaven, Germany for the purpose of solo around the world racing. Her original owner developed a brain tumor and died, so that is how we got it. (short version) She is now the property of Mass. Maritime Academy in Woods Hole.
