Vandana Bajaj

Hello! I'm currently a postbac at the Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences at Brown University.

Prior to this I was an undergraduate studying Computer Science at Union College. My studies there made me realize that I've long had my interests centered on language.

In the fall, I'll be joining the Department of Linguistics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The questions I most want to study as a Ph.D. student lie on the "S-side" of the theoretical domain. So I'm particularly intrigued by phrase structure (syntax), meaning (semantics), and the delicate interplay between these two (the syntax-semantics interface). I'd like to look at these issues crosslinguistically, with a particular focus on the very varied yet understudied languages of the Indo-Aryan family in South Asia.

On my CV you'll find more about my background and interests. I've also posted some of the work I've done through research assistantships and from my recent linguistics coursework. And periodically I'll sprinkle in other tidbits here as well.
