Say hello to 'Imola'....my
6th car in 3 years. I attempted to be reasonable and spend less
money and ended up losing my shirt on a '93 Mazda Rx-7 twin turbo...what a
piece 'o crap. But hey, it served the purpose of making me
appreciate my Audis again. I was a bit skeptical about getting
yellow car, but the price was right and I've grown to love the
color. The photos on this site don't do it justice...it is
gorgeous. Mine is also one of the few I've seen that have silver
interior instead of black.
In stock form, the car is
very well balanced. Performance is similar to that of the E36 M3,
although I feel my M3 certainly outhandled it....50/50 weight distribution
and 400 fewer pounds can have that effect. Handling with lowering
springs and 18" tires is definitely drastically improved, but still
not nearly as tight as the ///M. The flip side is that the S4 is
MUCH more comfortable in all driving situations. Add quattro for
Maine winters and it may be about the perfect all-around performer for
this part of the country.
Of course, I could not leave
well enough alone and the car did not stay stock for long. I dropped
the car about 1.2 inches with springs from MTM. Unfortunately it's
still pretty bouncy, so I'll either be upgrading the shocks or going all
the way and doing a coilover suspension...we'll see.
I'm sure I'll get ?'s
comparing this car to my previous ones. With a chip, it's the
fastest car I've owned...well, the Rx-7 was probably faster, but it was
never really running, so that doesn't count.
