  • Step-It-Up 2007 Rally at Union College
    April 14th 11:30am - 2:00pm
U...Union...USA...Unite to Ask: Step it up, Congress! Cut Carbon 80% by 2050.

The goal of our rally is not only to show that we want to reduce carbon emissions in the U.S., but also to demonstrate the strength of diversity in unity for a common cause. To demonstrate this, we invite every different organized academic, recreational, residential, social, and cultural groups on campus to design their own section of our Step-It-Up 2007 banner in a way that best represents their group. All the pieces of cloth designed by these various groups will be sewn together into a 14' by 40' banner around a central, uniting slogan. On April 14th all Union Students, Faculty, and Staff will have the opportunity to sign their name on the banner in show of support, as well as enjoy some food, music, and a speaker! We will also take a picture of all participants around the banner which the Step-It-Up team will send to congress also with photos from the over 1,000 rallies across the nation. Check out the website at http://www.stepitup2007.org.

After our rally at Union, we plan on joining forces with the Schenectady Coalition Against Global Warming at the Amtrak Station for more speakers, entertainment, and pictures!

Please continue to check the website for updates on the events schedule (this included the events of the 14th as well as cloth and t-shirt decorating events leading up to the 14th). For more information contact Nathali Neal.
